How has everyone been? Hope you are enjoying the last few days of winter as much as I am. Today I’m wearing another oversized sweater but this time it’s a grey single off the shoulder sweater from Free People. This sweater is cashmere so it feels amazing. It also has a loose fit with elastic bands around the arms and bottom of the sweater giving it a baggy feel. It falls off one shoulder rather than two.  It’s very airy so you don’t have to worry about over sweating and is extremely light while maintaining its warmth. The main downside of this is that there is very little stretch due to it being cashmere. I styled this sweater as a dress with my navy over the knee boots and  blue purse. I did not wear leggings  under mine but that would definitely be an option if the weather is too cold for bare legs.

Wishing you the coziest final winter days!

With love from the Pacific

I can honestly say that Free People has some of the most comfortable sweaters that I’ve ever worn. If you ever want to feel like you’re wearing a cozy blanket rather than a shirt, get one of their sweaters. I styled this off the shoulder, off white knit sweater with cut off shorts and high boots. As with most knit sweaters, this one has small “holes” throughout; I prefer to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath. Another option be a plain tank tor tube top of some sort.

Due to my petite frame, one of my secrets to appear taller is showing off my neck. This sweater is perfect for this; it falls off both shoulders and it’s incredibly warm.

Wishing you warmth during these last few Winter days!

I moved across the country from Virginia to Los Angeles a little over a year ago. I was not aware of it at the time, but I had many expectations of the “LA” life style and culture which turned out to be false. I’ve met many transplants who’ve experienced a similar reality of living in Los Angeles. Our reality turned out to be different from our exceptions. If anyone is interested in making the move I’ll share with you some of my expectations and then compare them to my actual realities:

  1. It’s always hot and Sunny. False. So it actually gets pretty cold here in Southern CA especially at night. There can be close to a 20 degree difference from day and night. Last weekend on 1/29 the high during the day was 74 but the low was 41. There are rarely clouds in the sky so when the sun is out it is beaming directly on you but when it goes away  temperatures drop immediately due to the lack of humidity. It also can rained a lot in these winter months! It would be wise to invest in a pair of rain boots and winter jacket if you’re planning on spending a winter here.
  2.  I will be able to hang out with/see my friends everyday. False. The reality is that this city is so spread out, you rarely get to see your close friends if they don’t live near you. People also tend to flake out of meeting up last-minute depending on how bad the traffic is. Just be aware that you must make an extra effort to see friends that don’t live close by.
  3. Everyone who lives in LA is beautiful.  Not true. No offense to anyone but there are normal people living here that look and dress just like the rest of the world. I can say more people in some areas put more effort into their appearance than back home in VA with the key word being effort. The more effort you put into something the better you will be at it and that includes your appearance.
  4. Celebrities are everywhere. True, to an extent.  I had to get used to seeing them at the mall and grocery store but only in certain parts of the city. In my experience, celebrities typically frequent the same locations just because the staff at this locations are used to seeing celebreties and won’t make a scene.
  5. Dating is hard. True, in my case just because I’m used to men that have careers and are working 9-5 jobs. Here in LA, many men my age consider themselves “Entrepreneurs” (which really means they are going from gig to gig waiting for their next break). People also aren’t honest about their financial situation and present themselves as being more together and or financially secure than they actually are. Peter pan syndrome is also very common here, where men in their late 20s early 30s “never want to grow up”.
  6. People are always dressed up. False. From my experience of living in the DTLA area, most people are commonly dressed down but they put a lot of effort into looking like they didn’t try..if they makes sense.
  7. LA is diverse. True. What I’ve found is that this city is very diverse but very divided especially when I compare it to parts of the East coast. Certain towns and communities are predominated by one race and one language. I thought northern VA had some areas like that but it is nothing compared to Los Angeles.
  8. You can survive in LA and not speak english. True. I work in Compton and there are plenty of people and family who only speak spanish. There are also plenty of people in parts of Korea town and Chinatown in DTLA that do not speak english but the communities have their own stores and everything so it isn’t necissary to venture outside of that one community to survive.
  9. Traffic is bad. True. When I first moved here, I underestimated the traffic. I was used to the typical rush hour traffic but this traffic has a mind of its own and takes place at all hours of the day. The only rational I can come up with is that people typically do industry work so their schedules are unpredictable.

I’m still growing and learning this city. Not sure what the future has in store for me and where I’ll be settling down for good but I’m going to enjoy the journey.

So it’s officially 2017!

Along with the New Year comes New Year’s resolutions. I’ve been neglecting one very important resolution and goal of mine from previous years which is staying fit.  I’ve always been heavily into Pilates, yoga and dance but I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve not done much of these over the last few months due to a pretty busy schedule at the end of 2016.

In order to motivate myself back toward my fitness goals, I’ve teamed up with Kate Hudson’s clothing line, fabletics. This post is the first of three athletic wear  outfits I’ll make for this clothing brand.

If you are petite and are wondering how fabletics may look on you, I’ve tried them on below.

Emmy Sports Bra II

Price:   Regular:$ 59.95     VIP$39.95

Salar Capri

Price:  Regular:$49.95   VIP$34.95

To be honest the prices are a bit steep but there is a membership option which I think is worth it, but only if you are an avid fitness guru.  The way the program works is that you sign up for free. You then take a quiz which helps fabletics experts get a feel for your style. They then provide you with choices for you to choose an outfit which you get for $49.95. This is offered to you each month. If you can’t make a purchase one month you can skip that month and they will send you new options the next month. Shipping is free and exchanges are acceptable. If you have more questions check out the website!

Ill keep you posted on my fitness journey 🙂

Cheers to #Fitnessgoals in 2017!
